AHA PALS Certification

The American Heart Association PALS Certification is for healthcare providers and students who direct or participate in the resuscitation of patients

PALS COURSE DESCRIPTION & GOALS

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who manage respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients. Participants will practice in the skills stations and simulated cases. Participants will enhance the recognition of, and intervention for, respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest. Through the proper training of healthcare providers, The PALS Provider Course ultimately aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients.

PALS PREREQUISITES

Pass the Precourse Work & Self-Assessment, Print your certificate of completion or save a digital copy and bring it with you to the course.

PALS PROVIDER MANUAL

The AHA encourage participants to obtain and read the PALS Provider Manual before attending the class. In case you forget to bring your provider manual with you, we have AHA Provider Manuals you may use as a reference during class.

PALS COURSE PREPARATION

Regardless if you are brand new to your profession or if you are a seasoned provider in your field, our goal is to improve your life-saving abilities during the time we spend with you. Depending on your area of expertise, you may have strengths or weaknesses in any of the following categories. We welcome everyone into our learning environment and we make it easy to follow along with PALS references and expert guidance. Feel free to “come as you are” or feel free to maximize your PALS learning experience by brushing up on the following topics: 

  • High-quality AHA CPR & BLS skills
  • Performing as a high-performance team member
  • Differentiate between pediatrics who require immediate intervention and those who don’t
  • Identify pediatric respiratory distress and failure, and to perform early interventions
  • Differentiate between pediatric compensated vs hypotensive shock, and to perform early interventions
  • Differentiate between unstable and stable pediatrics with dysrhythmias, and to provide treatment
  • Implement post-arrest management for pediatric patients
